Community Input Meetings

March 2024

I am happy to report that the Library’s exciting building project is moving along well.

Ryan Foster, our architect, listened to the ideas of the community, the Library Board and the Design & Build Committee and has provided us with exciting plans for renovating and adding on to our existing 200-year old building.

We will have a bathroom, ADA accessibility, comfortable seating, more parking, a lovely park space along the river, and more space for meetings and for programming and displays of all kinds, such as those we will develop in our new collaboration with the Weston Historical Society. And the new Library will be more flood resistant than the current building.

Both the Library Board and Selectboard have unanimously approved the design. Next step will be to share the plans with the community at public input meetings to get their feedback.

Our public input meetings will be held at Walker Farm on Thursday, 2/29/24 at 7:00 PM and Thursday, 3/7/24 at 4:30 PM. I hope you can join us!

As we talk to people about our capital campaign, we have found that they have different reasons to give, such as assuring universal access to books, creating a community center, or providing lots of opportunities for gathering and learning. Still, all appreciate the power and importance that a library can have in a community like Weston.

Thank you for your support and your participation in our capital campaign. We will keep you posted on our progress. If you can, please attend a public meeting, as we value your input!

-Deb Granquist, Chair, Board of Trustees

“This is such an exciting project for Weston. The library will be able to realize its goal of becoming a vibrant community center.

I am so pleased that the proposed addition fits within the historical architecture and feel of our quintessntial New England village.

Ryan Foster worked hard to create a more flood resiliant building than we currently have. All in all a great project!

I am proud to be part of it.”
